The CW is combining two Arrowverse superhero stories for one epic event. The network will unite the worlds of Superman and Batwoman in its latest crossover event, Deadline reports, bringing together characters from their shows Superman & Lois and Batwoman.
The CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz announced in the network’s scheduling call today that they’re developing a two-hour event that combines the worlds of the two famous superheroes. “We’re still working on it,” he said. “It will be a smaller event than usual, we’re only planning a two-hour event. We are talking about doing Superman and Batwoman together. There’s a lot of characters coming from our other shows.”
Pedowitz added that the event will not happen in December due to the coronavirus, but that it’s being optimistically planned for some time next year.
The news from The CW comes after Superman & Lois was recently announced as a new series at the network. The upcoming show stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. It also features Wolé Parks, Inde Navarratte and Emmanuelle Chriqui. Hoechlin and Tulloch previously played their Superman & Lois roles in the Arrowverse show Supergirl. Batwoman, starring Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, premiered on The CW last year and was renewed for Season 2 back in January.
The upcoming Arrowverse crossover event follows last year’s Crisis On Infinite Earths, an intense, five-hour event that included multiple shows and characters. The Batwoman and Superman event is much shorter at two hours long, and sounds like a simpler crossover than last year’s, but The CW has not released any specific details about the upcoming event.
Along with crossover news, The CW also announced today that they’ll be pushing all of their dramas to 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak, including shows like Walker, the Texas Ranger reboot and Season 7 of The 100. The fall schedule on the network will feature reality shows, acquired programming and the Supernatural finale.
