Schools and non-essential shops are to close again in Leicester after the government ordered the first local lockdown against Covid-19.
Non-essential shops will close from tomorrow, while schools will close to most pupils from Thursday after a rise in coronavirus cases, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced.
Mr Hancock also said the easing of the lockdown planned for the rest of England on July 4 cannot now happen in Leicester.

He said: “Given the growing outbreak in Leicester we cannot recommend that the easing of the national lockdown set to take place on July 4 happens in Leicester.”
