Mark Wright fights back tears over not being able to see granddad Eddie in isolation

Mark Wright got a bit tearful earlier today as a listener’s tribute to their granddad reminded Mark of his own, Eddie.

The 33 year old is especially close with granddad Eddie, and admitted that it’s been a real struggle not to see him as the country remains locked down over coronavirus.

Broadcasting his Heart Radio show from his Essex pad, where he’s self-isolating with wife Michelle Keegan, Mark read out a fan’s beautiful words.

“Please give a shout out to my granddad Ronny,” Mark read, “Who has been a paramedic for 30 years and at 80 years of age, he wanted to go out and help our ambulance service, but unfortunately he couldn’t because of his age.

“30 years he’s dedicated his life and time to hundreds of patients and hospitals.

“Thank you, Granddad. Love you loads.”

“Sorry,” Mark said as the waterworks got going, “I’m getting a bit choked up there.

“Oh god, this has got me. I’m so sorry guys, that’s just emotional.”

He also made sure to remind listeners to take part in the weekly Clap For Our Carers.

“I know that granddad one there get me,” he continued, “I’m missing my granddad very much, granddad Eddie.

“I love you loads and I can’t wait to see you soon.”

He’s rocking a bold new look

It’s not the first time he’s mentioned Eddie, as he gushed on This Morning: “He’s done so much for our family. He’s our king, and the best granddad you could ever have.”

Mark and Michelle are cosied up in their Essex home, but it seems the lockdown boredom got to Mark as he recently decided to get out the clippers and shave his head.

Still, the bold new look was a hit with fans, and even with close pal Olly Murs who fumed that handsome Mark could pull off any look he wanted.
