The move comes after the Department of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu issued a directive to fast track government housing projects to help mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The minister said she is happy the project has come to this point particularly as winter closes in.
“Most of the people who will be relocated will find themselves in comfortable accommodation throughout this winter and throughout the rest of the COVID period,” she said.
